Below is a brief outline of my usual working practice.

ART/DESPATCH
1- Once briefed, line drawings of the proposed illustrations will be e-mailed or faxed for you to check and approve. If the illustrations are for a book, (and time allows) I can create a dummy of the book, so you can see the illustrations in a mocked up book format, if required.
The rough is your chance to check how I am interpreting the brief - and at this stage you can then tell me any changes you would like, sort out any problems, your preferences and details.
2- Once the roughs have been approved; I will then go on to do the final illustrations.
3-The progress of each final illustration can then be emailed to you, directly or posted on a dedicated web page for immediate viewing. This way you will be able to comment on all stages of the work.
4- Finished Artwork's can be sent, by first class registered post in the UK, by Courier for next day delivery for customers overseas,or transferred by file over the net.

TERMS
Upon commissioning or purchasing an image, I will send you a licence, which outlines what the illustration is to be used for, the price agreed, area of use (territory) and duration of use. As a general rule of thumb, an exclusive one year licence suits most clients, with children's book illustrations it is a three year license.
I also usually retain the copyrights to all my images, and require return of the original artwork.
However, we would discuss exactly what would suit you.

OWNERSHIP OF COPYRIGHT
Clients sometimes request assignment of copyright. Copyright is the exclusive right to reproduce the image in any shape or form throughout the world for a period, which lasts for the creator's lifetime plus seventy years. Clearly, such wide-ranging rights are rarely needed. In practice, clients who request copyright are more than happy to accept a licence once they realise that it is exclusive and can cover all their requirements.

CHANGES TO COMMISSIONS
If you commission me and then change your mind about what you want, after everything has been agreed, that will be fine, but if it means I have to spend extra time making changes, a charge will be incurred.

A TYPICAL LICENCE WITH THE STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS IS AVAILABLE,
JUST SEND ME AN EMAIL AND I WILL SEND YOU DETAILS IN PDF FORMAT.
